With the excitement of this year’s World Cup building, we’re delighted to share a fantastic free resource that offers a meaningful way to bring the energy of the World Cup into your PE curriculum.

Created by Beyond the Physical, a company whose work in primary PE we greatly admire is an amazing Football World Cup Play Leader Resource Pack which provides a collection of carefully designed activities that balance enjoyment with purposeful skill development.

What’s inside?

The resource includes a series of simple, game-based activities that enable all children to participate, improve and succeed. Each one is carefully structured to develop control, coordination and decision-making through play.

  • World Cup Wanderers – a fun dribbling and decision-making challenge
  • Red Card Freeze Tag – an energetic game promoting teamwork and passing skills
  • Penalty Box Raiders – encouraging control, movement and quick thinking
  • Golden Goal – a fast-paced activity to develop agility and ball control
  • Stadium Escape – building evasion, awareness and spatial understanding

Each activity uses minimal equipment and includes adaptable challenges, allowing you to support different needs while maintaining appropriate levels of challenge and progression.

We love this pack as it promotes:

  • Active participation for all children
  • Skill development through play
  • Opportunities for leadership and collaboration
  • Easy adaptation for different abilities

It’s ideal for upcoming PE lessons, lunchtimes, sports days or enrichment activities during this year’s World Cup period.

If you’re looking for a purposeful way to connect your PE provision to a global moment, you can download your free pack below.

Beyond the Physical’s Play leaders programme

If you enjoy using this World Cup resource, Beyond the Physical also offers a wider Play Leaders programme designed to help children develop confidence, communication and leadership through active play. The programme supports young leaders to organise inclusive games and activities for their peers, creating positive experiences that encourage participation, teamwork and enjoyment across the school day. With practical resources, simple delivery ideas and a strong focus on personal development, it’s a fantastic way to extend the impact of physical activity beyond PE lessons and empower children to take ownership of active play within your school community.
