Ramadan is a special month. During this time, many Muslims fast, which means they do not eat or drink from sunrise to sunset. They do this to focus on being kind, helping others, praying, and thinking about what they are grateful for. Families often come together in the evening to share a meal when the fast ends each day.

Eid al-Fitr is a joyful celebration marking the end of Ramadan, a month of reflection, generosity and community for Muslims around the world. It’s a wonderful opportunity for children to learn about different traditions and celebrate together through meaningful, creative activities.

To help bring these special festivals to life in the classroom, we’ve created a free Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr activity pack to help children understand Ramadan and celebrate Eid al-Fitr in a fun and engaging way.

The pack includes a range of activities suitable for both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Younger children can take part in a KS1 crack-the-code treasure hunt, where simple clues help them discover key words and ideas connected to Eid. For older pupils, the KS2 treasure hunt uses rhyming clues to guide them around the classroom or school grounds, encouraging problem-solving and teamwork while exploring the traditions of Ramadan and Eid.

Alongside the treasure hunts, the pack also includes creative resources to help children prepare for an Eid celebration. Pupils can design and decorate their own Eid bunting, perfect for brightening up the classroom or hall, and create colourful placemats for an Eid feast, helping them imagine and prepare for the joyful gatherings that take place during the festival.

Whether used as part of a wider learning experience about world faiths or to celebrate with your class, these activities provide a fun and inclusive way for children to explore the meaning of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.
