What does a great curriculum look like?

What does a great curriculum look like?

Curious and engaged children are excited to learn. Teachers are supported in planning quality lessons and teaching with confidence. Leaders can articulate their curriculum intent and have a clear view of progression across the whole school and its impact. This is what schools using the Cornerstones Curriculum offer their children.

Problems we help senior leaders solve

Here’s how our curriculum solves 4 of the most common problems in primary schools.

Curriculum and assessment review

The national curriculum is changing. School can be ready before it becomes statute. Cornerstones has already created a new curriculum aligned to the changes. Once national programmes of study are confirmed, everything will be fully matched to ensure coverage and progression – all free as part of your licence.

Ofsted compliance

Schools using the Cornerstones Curriculum consistently achieve the expected or above expected standards for curriculum and teaching, and for EYFS when inspected under the current framework. The Cornerstones Curriculum is also reported as a strength in schools where attention is needed in certain areas.

Workload

Schools using the Cornerstones Curriculum on Maestro, our digital platform, report significant time savings after initial onboarding, giving teachers more time to teach and leaders more time to lead.

Ongoing support

Every school gets a dedicated curriculum adviser from day one. The adviser provides training, guidance and expert practical online support throughout the licence period. CPD tool, resources and digital functionality also included.

I wouldn't work in a school that hasn't got it.

Projects

Every project comes complete with everything your teachers need. Lesson plans with specifically designed resources to support teaching and learning. Fully adaptable to meet the needs of your children and contextual requirements.

Subjects

Looking to strengthen one or more subjects? Choose from history, geography, science, art, DT or RE (through celebration projects) to give your curriculum a lift. You can purchase one or two of these subjects separately.

Progression framework

A concept-driven progression framework provides skills and knowledge linked directly to the national curriculum and Cornerstones content from Nursery to Year 6. Teachers and leaders can see a clear sequence of learning across their school.

Resources

Cornerstones projects are fully resourced. High-quality resources such as videos, audio recordings, presentations and quizzes, all specifically designed to support teaching, learning and retrieval.

A four-stage pedagogy that brings learning to life

Every Cornerstones project follows our four-stage pedagogy. Hook children with a memorable experience. Build their skills and knowledge through meaningful activities. Give them opportunities to apply what they’ve learned. Then let them reflect, share and celebrate.

What school leaders say

From my point of view, having looked at every model of curriculum that's out there, I'm sticking with Cornerstones.

Read their story

I would recommend Cornerstones. The content, in terms of raising standards and knowledge for our children, has worked immensely well. The conversations that we can now have with our foundation-stage children are unbelievable. Our expectations are high.

Cornerstones has helped our school to implement an ambitious, knowledge-rich, expertly-designed curriculum. It has helped us establish clear end-points as well as identify the component knowledge which enables our pupils to achieve these.
