What do I get when I subscribe to Maestro?

Your school will have an online 'home' for everything to do with your curriculum. First, you'll get access to a well-sequenced and ambitious curriculum of over 100 Cornerstones Curriculum projects supported by teaching resources. Staff can then edit content and add lessons and projects to the platform if they wish.
The curriculum is linked to a built-in skills and knowledge framework to ensure progression and connection in children's learning over time. Maestro also includes clever tools to help you to easily articulate how subjects and concepts develop over time through your curriculum. It really has everything you need right now to deliver an ambitious, coherent primary curriculum that children will love (and that saves teachers' time).

Our experienced curriculum advisers will provide you with ongoing curriculum support whenever you need it.

The price depends on the size of your school, and we offer discounts for multi-school purchases. For schools new to Cornerstones, the licence ranges from £500 to £2,750. How can Maestro help with assessment?

Maestro comes with an inbuilt skills and knowledge progression framework, which underpins your curriculum content. This framework gives teachers clear assessment points in every primary subject. Maestro provides teachers with class-based assessment tools to monitor and support learning. Live recording of what has been taught and learnt, alongside quizzes and more formal half termly tests, enables you to make quality assessment for learning and accurate teacher assessments.

Can I sync Maestro with my school’s Management Information System (MIS)?

We've partnered with Wonde to synchronise Maestro with information in your MIS (such as Capita SIMS, RM Integris, ScholarPack). This means that your classes and pupils will always be up to date with information about attributes, new pupils or pupils that have left the school. Maestro uses this information securely to populate your midterm plans, monitor actual coverage and allow you to assess in real time.

If your school is not yet using the Wonde portal, we will cover the cost of this service for you. This means that you have the option, free of charge, to ensure that Maestro stays in sync with any relevant information that you input or change in your MIS. Please get in touch to find out more.

Will Maestro save teachers time?

Absolutely! Maestro saves teachers hours, if not weeks, of planning time. You have everything that you need to plan, deliver, monitor and assess your curriculum, all in one place. The 100+ projects are sequenced, connected, adaptable and come with high-quality resources, so that you don’t have to trawl the internet looking for resources to use in classes. We also offer ongoing teacher support, to help you to make the most of your curriculum.

Can someone come into my school to demonstrate Maestro?

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions and government guidelines, much of our support is offered through online demonstrations. If you need us to visit in person, we can do this so long as government guidelines are followed.

What will a demo show me?

A demo is a perfect opportunity to see what Maestro offers you. A curriculum adviser from your region will ask you what you need and will show you how to use Maestro in the best way to support your school. The demo is a great way to get a feel for what Maestro includes and how it can save you time. After that, you can easily book a more focused session with members of your team.

Do you offer a free trial?

The best way to trial Maestro is to book a one to one or group demo with one of our advisers. They will listen to your needs and show you the features that will help you most. You are then very welcome to book further demos and ask us any questions before deciding upon purchasing your licence. Once your licence starts, you’ll get ongoing curriculum support to help you to get the most out of Maestro. Download our brochure about Curriculum Maestro

Can I buy Curriculum Maestro as an individual?

No. Maestro is most effective as a whole school curriculum design and management tool, which enables complete coherence across school, a key priority for schools, especially under the new inspection framework. Individual teachers have their own login and dashboard, so that lesson plans and curriculum models can be personalised.

We used to have a Cornerstones Curriculum licence. Can we rejoin on Maestro?

Yes, you can absolutely rejoin us on Maestro. We just need a few details from you to set up your annual licence and get you up and running in no time.

Are there any Welsh language resources?

We have created Welsh language resources in the 11 Welsh humanities projects for Year 1 to Year 6. To give you choice and make it truly bespoke for your needs, all content on Maestro is editable. This means that teachers can build lessons into projects to incorporate specific content, for example, Welsh local history study, or Welsh literacy and communication.

How is Cwricwlwm Maestro aligned with the new Curriculum for Wales requirements?

Central to the Curriculum for Wales statutory guidance is that schools design a bespoke curriculum with progression at its heart. Maestro helps you to define your curriculum vision, develop sequenced content and make meaningful assessments. The editable projects on Maestro offer you a starting point to deliver an engaging, broad curriculum with the four purposes at its heart. You can also add your own bespoke content. Maestro covers all areas of learning, and experience and is directly linked to the statements of what matters.

How can Cwricwlwm Maestro help track progression?

The Welsh government advise schools that they don't need to assess directly against the descriptions of learning. However, progression is at the heart of good curriculum design, so Maestro includes a clear, built in skills and knowledge progression framework. This means that you can track children’s progression and their increasingly sophisticated understanding in all areas of learning and experience. Maestro integrates and connects curriculum content and assessment in every subject, supporting leadership at all levels.

Where should we start with our curriculum design?

A co-constructed and shared curriculum statement is a vital place to start your design process. Talk with your stakeholders about your vision and agree on a statement that embraces your school context and the desired overarching entitlement for the pupils of your school. This vision and pupil entitlement can be easily created and shared with stakeholders on Cwricwlwm Maestro.

How can I design a bespoke curriculum on Cwricwlwm Maestro?

Cwriciwlwm Maestro is not an off the shelf, readymade offer, but a system to support schools to design, deliver and manage their provision in line with the Curriculum for Wales guidance. You are in control at every stage of curriculum development and have clear ownership of your curriculum. It’s also easy to review and edit your curriculum, as everything is live, saved, and shared online.

We are in a much better place with CM than with our old curriculum. We will be making it more bespoke in the second year.

Conrad Fox – Headteacher, Hunmanby Primary School, England

    16/11/2021

I have used Cornerstones from its first launch. The product has been refined over time as it is driven by feedback from schools and teachers delivering the content. The company is also responsive to a school's needs.

Lindsey Wain – Deputy headteacher, Hartburn Primary School, England

    04/11/2021

Maestro is a real time saver, particularly for leadership teams and subject leaders. There is a wealth of information and resources which can be used and adapted by creative skills teachers. The way the curriculum is mapped is excellent and was commented on in a very recent Ofsted inspection.

Charlotte Gibbins – Thurlstone Primary School, England

    17/09/2021

I have recommended and told many other schools and school staff about it. I would always though suggest that they need to ensure it is right for their school setting and the needs of their staff and pupils.

Kathryn – Teacher, Langton Primary School

    20/01/2021

It has been a revelation. Staff are finding their way through it and if we have any questions, the support from Cornerstones is amazing. We always get answers to our questions. It is now our one-stop-shop for curriculum with linked up thinking and approach through an intuitive and user-friendly system.
