Reading at a deeper level

The guides provide a deeper understanding of literary effects to help you meet the expectations for reading comprehension at Key Stage 2. They're also packed with ideas for classroom activities that encourage children to talk about their reading.

Explains key themes

Each guide gives you a plot synopsis, details about the author, characters and setting, and information on how language and literary devices are used. So it's perfect for getting up to speed with key themes and meanings.

Flexible to use

The guides are flexible and can be used in a variety of ways. You can choose to read the novel together as a whole class, as part of guided reading or in independent reading time. No matter what sparks your children's interest, there is something for everyone.

Supports any curriculum

Schools using the Cornerstones Curriculum can also use Love to Read guides alongside specific Imaginative Learning Projects. A well-chosen novel can improve children's understanding of a particular theme or historical content to make learning a fully immersive experience.
