What are rules?

A PSHE and SMSC project for Year 1 children

Why do we have rules? Can we make our own rules? What happens if a rule is broken?

In this project, children learn about the importance of rules and why we need them. They think about how rules keep them safe and make things fair. Finally, they debate whether it is fair that adults make rules for children to follow.

This project is provided as a digital download* and includes:

  • project booklet
  • tailormade resources
  • display banner
  • book cover
  • glossary
  • user handbook

*The download files are sent in a zip folder (208MB). We recommend that you download this on a desktop/laptop computer rather than a mobile device.

ATTENTION! – Democracy Rules is provided free of charge to Cornerstones Curriculum customers as part of their ongoing curriculum licence. If you have an active curriculum licence, you can access these projects and resources on The Hub.
