Prepare your children for the new style SATs with Cornerstones Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar tests

Cornerstones brand new Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPaG) tests are designed to be used as a summative test at the end of every term. They support classroom assessment and provide a suitable challenge for your children while maintaining their self-esteem and confidence.

Each test mirrors the style of the 2016 SATs papers and has full coverage of the programmes of study for every year group. A broad range of question types also help prepare children for their SATs.

Termly tests

There are 34 tests in total. For Years 2 to 6, there are three termly tests for spelling and three termly tests for grammar, punctuation and vocabulary.

For Year 1, there are two termly tests for spelling and two termly tests for grammar, punctuation and vocabulary (there is no autumn term test for Year 1 as we think Year 1 children are not ready to sit a formal test at this stage).

Gap analysis

A gap analysis spreadsheet is also included with every test, which will highlight gaps in children’s learning and help to inform your planning. It will allow you to monitor how your children are performing in relation to age-related expectations. Senior leaders can also track progress through school, monitor whole school strengths and weaknesses and use results to inform professional development.spag2
