Do you want to improve children’s reading skills in Key Stage 2?

We’ll be at Holmer Lake Primary School in Telford on Tuesday 8th March 2016 at 3.30pm.

Holmer Lake’s innovative practice

Holmer Lake Headteacher, Siân Deane, and KS2 Leader, Craig Wilkinson, will be leading a session on their innovative practice for improving reading in school. They’ll talk about how they’re using Cornerstones’ Love to Read guides to shape their school’s curriculum. You’ll also have the added opportunity to ask them any questions about their experiences and explore resources they’ve used.

How you can use Love to Read in your school

Cornerstones’ Curriculum Consultant, Stacey Almond, will deliver a session on how using Love to Read guides can help to improve reading in your school with practical ideas for how to:

  • introduce children to the work of classic and contemporary authors
  • get quickly up to speed with themes and literary techniques
  • talk about books with children
  • link novels into the curriculum.

Pick up your free Love to Read guide

We’ll also be there to answer any questions you have about Cornerstones products with the opportunity to browse materials and take away a free copy of a Love to Read guide and accompanying novel*.

What is Love to Read?

A flexible series of guides that help you teach classic and contemporary children’s literature and support children to meet the expectations for reading comprehension at Key Stage 2. The series is made up of novels that represent a balance of styles, periods and authors so children can experience a range of literature over time.
